suffers from its length - I’m sure you could cut the first two tracks as I don’t see what they bring - but when I finished I was surprised how much I liked it, what with the boring over reverbed rhythm sections being a persistent bugbear

"Family Tree Intro" is definitely the closest thing to an unnecessary track that this has but I like how it previews the atmosphere of the majority of the album better than "American Teenager" which itself sets up some major themes of the album but with a brighter/more positive sound, that (aside from being a pretty perfect pop song) is pretty essential for setting up the character before delving deeper into the darker stuff - you couldn't just start this with "A House in Nebraska." But glad you got along with most of it (those reverberated rhythm sections are great but I can see how they may grate (heh) on some).

She has cited some classic/80s rock as influences so you're not wrong.
