"The biggest problem with the production is the drums. They sound like crap. Weak guitar and vocal mix's can still sound decent with some impactful drums. But here, they have no impact. Nothing feels dynamic and feels like he's smacking a wad of styrofoam.
On top of all that, everything is so damn muddy. Nothing sit's right in the mix. The lows are weak, and the mids and highs are all jumbled together. No clarity, just a wall of noise."
The album is mastered extremely loud so that's where a lot of the garbage sound quality comes from. I don't get why artists want their music to sound like trash, but alas here we are...

^I wouldn't blame the band, it was probably beyond their control.
I put Cutting Off The Corners on my playlist and rarely revisit this record anymore

It makes me sad that I just don’t care about this record. Zero motivation to listen after the day it dropped. Probably more of a reflection on me than them

Still not quite as good as Morbid Stuff but this has grown on me a lot. Second half of the album is definitely weaker though

Four Chords, Totally Fine, Robot Writes A Love Song, Matilda and Waiting are all catchy as hell. A lot of the rest of the LP is decent/forgettable, but if I can get 5 top tier pop-punk bangers out of one album then it's a success.

Morbid Stuff is immensely better for me and I think it's the cleaner production

Finding this to be much more difficult to enjoy right off the bat than any of their other stuff, but certainly grows on you over time.

Just saw them live yesterday at a tiny warm up venue in London. Totally Fine is so much fucking fun to see live but gutted they didn't play Relentless

Did the crowd sung the "la la la la lalala la" part? My 5yo boy loves that part lol

Saw them a few nights ago in Melbourne - what an unbelievable gig. They played puptheband is filing for bankruptcy near the end and said beforehand it was the band’s favourite/ultimate PUP song which I thought was interesting. It definitely slapped live though

Ugh. Coming back to this to make sure I wasn't duped into not liking it that much - I wasn't. Totally Fine slaps hard, and the Four Chords saga is fun, but I think it's, on the whole, a bit of raunchier Morbid Stuff b-sides. Maybe I'll come around...

I think I agree, but I like Morbid Stuff quite a bit. The Dream is Over is an easy 5/5 for me, though.
