yeah I could see people feeling like mpp is an assault on the ears for sure. my friend has a story about eating a weed edible when he was like 15 and listening to mpp in bed and falling asleep and then the sounds of weird samples and synths waking him up and suddenly he was screaming because it sounded like jungle nightmare shit to him and his mom was like WHAT what what is it. and he had to (in some sense) be like no it's ok I was high and listening to merriweather post pavilion. but the songwriting there feels to me less kinda pieced-together or something?

I loved MPP when it first came out, but in hindsight, it's probably better when you're high than when you're sober. I got drunk to it once, and taking in all the aural sensations while feeling warm and fuzzy was quite an experience
