"Everything from 3:22-onwards in Brethren of the Cross is pretty great I’m realizing"
Just came here to post how much I love the part starting at 3:08. Whole song is incredible, indeed Frost, and a shame Johnny, that you ranked it so low on your list. Have you come to enjoy it more?

Even if I don’t really like the first 3 minutes, it’s still obviously one of the highlights, clearly better than The Knight Errant, Spectrum of Colour, Get out of the Tower, and the closer.

I revisited my comment and I have to say I will have to disagree with your assessment sir. Maybe I’d like the closer more if drone metal did anything for me.

I don't think I could rank this album, all of the tracks are brilliant and they all just keep growing on me.

5:42 of Epipsychidion until around the 9 minute mark is pretty good.

I got into Void in Virgo, Necklace and Epipsychidion really hard. The droning ending of Epipsychidion is gold, I love it.

With the album themes being about the struggles and futility of life, the drone outro of Epipsychidion seems to perfectly encapsulate the image of giving up, where the character/s of the lyrics have embraced death and waiting for it to overtake them.
"Life is short, though death is very long
A drawn-out elegy to the saddest song"
I also just think the drone outro is very well done, it's texturally very pleasing to listen to I think. Feels like more than just a wall of sound.

Yeah as far as drone goes it’s pretty good. Just kind of disappointing that such a long song just peters out for the whole second half, like The Grain at the end of Ashes… by Agalloch.

"Just kind of disappointing that such a long song just peters out"
That's what I love about it haha. To each their own.
Here are the final lyrics, which I think puts context into why the album ends the way it does.
"Shut away are the ruins of our lives
In anguish on a couch of knives and dreams
Nothing remains but the memories of others
And the words and lines in the murmuring of stream."

Yeah man Tony just should’ve went more jazz / chamber than metal on here let’s be honest. His releases like that were always the best w KD.
