> I think given the fact that classical music is the foundation of any and all modern music
completely and utterly disagree with this take. “classical” music, if we take the definition to mean “the formal tradition of western music” has far less influence on modern day popular music than western folk music and pan-African composition techniques. every single one of our hyper-popular contemporary music genres drawn on rhythmic techniques derived from African traditions and, regionally, pulls influences from folk traditions far more than any “classical” techniques.
in fact, I would argue that classical stopped being influential with the modernist period, and those other influences took over almost completely.
this is also an extremely problematic take because it completely ignores any music traditions that did not originate from white, western societies.

okay with the thesis.
i did not say classical music is the only foundation or ingredient or influence to modern music, but that modern music would not exist if things were not built by influences from or influences away from what came before, regardless of where it derived. to imply that the techniques, harmonies, melodies, song forms, etc, of today are not influenced by classical is to me absurd. most of these musicians are learning these classical forms as well as all the others as they are learning their instrument, whether directly from a mentor, or being "self-taught" from the music they listen to.
the subject in the thread to that point was not pan-african composition or western folk music, so naturally they were not addressed. the original question was, why would someone tag this classical?
there is no cancerous un-woke assertion that modern music is not a huge mix of all that came before, some more than others, it simply isn't what was being discussed until introduced just now. we would be having a similar discussion if this was tagged 'jazz' and someone asked 'why is this tagged jazz?' but it's not

Yeah, in the end it doesn't really matter but it makes for an interesting debate. I still don't know which is my fav track here... I can't decide between A.U.M, Drain of Incarnation, Drone Corpse Aviator... fuck it man every track rules.

I think he’s aware of the humor in his vocal style. He refers to his mouth as his “cocksucker,” which denotes there isn’t much he takes seriously

Hmm honestly overall I've found Relentless Mutation more memorable than this. There seems to be more emphasis on hooks and pacing on that one rather than pure faceblasting. But Golden Mouth, Bleed the Future, Drain and Acrid are great additions to the discog.

>Archpsire melodies have many things in common with some classical symphonies and concertos for string instruments.
I'm not exactly sure if I can agree with this reasoning (large part of power metal has songs based on hooks, does that mean they should be tagged as pop?) but yeah I have to agree, I certainly hear Beethoven worship (especially in the fast arpeggios lol)
