Pointing out that Dylan can't sing isn't exactly a fringe opinion though. If you want to praise his talents, then praise his writing chops. Claiming he's this awesome singer isn't the hill to die on

If by "he can absolutely sing" you mean that he can hit the notes then yeah, he does so, barely. It's not just that though. The melodies he does choose to sing are the most boring ones you could imagine. You know Joni Mitchell right? Apart from obviously being the way better singer, the way she sings over her tunes is also super imaginative. Dylan just does the bare minimum and he barely is able to do that. On top of that he has a nasally voice that's just not pleasant to listen to.

yknow it's funny. there's actually something about joni mitchell's voice that I react to negatively or don't like, but I still think she has like 5 great albums (which I think has gotta mean I don't /dislike/ her voice)...anyways
