Okay 4 from Meatspace, two from Braindrops, a few from this and a couple of covers… maybe I’ll just show up late and hang by the back. I literally got into this band like a month after they dropped Meatspace. Still kicking myself for missing the that first tour

figured it was self-explanatory but abject poverty combined with the difficulty traveling the 100 miles to the city (not to mention the 100 back) will pose for me - won't be able to longboard that one... and all this by myself because lord knows there's not another soul in my near nonexistent circle that's gonna have any interest in seeing music band Tropical Fuck Storm on a Thursday... think I've met a total of 1 people in real life who know of this band in any capacity and I'm surprised that the count is even that high then again I'm about as social as a king cobra so maybe I'm not a good gauge

and hope you come around to the other three records they are on par with the first one I remember I felt like Braindrops and Deep States were slightly lesser when they first dropped but I've spent lots of time with them since then (I guess it has been years huh) and pretty much all songs grew on me and they each have songs that I love... if I saw them at this point not sure I'd really mind or be disappointed if they played no songs off the first album (obviously there's no need to worry that would actually happen of course they gonna have a couple songs off of that one)

your abject poverty was not "self-explanatory" but sorry to hear it - people often have different reasoning(s) for not being able to make these things happen, even if they would like to

That was definitely the case with Deep States. I didn't think it would ever hit me this hard based on my initial estimation.

Braindrops remains a different story tho. Still a bit underwhelming

The new one is probably somewhere in-between the two, comfortably behind Meatspace

Title track and the closer are both so good on the new one.

Those two do a bit of heavy lifting as there’s definitely two or three slightly weaker tunes there.

yeah, it's holding steady as a solid yet unremarkable TFS album on the whole, but those two cuts do pack some heat

again, also an element that is present to some extent here and through the whole discog but there do be a lot of apocalyptic lines and imagery and uh whole songs all over the new one and yeah I'll lap that shit up

closer is probably my least favorite at this point... "Dunning Kruger's Loser Cruiser" was a contender for a bit I didn't really care for it much at first but I been spinning Fairyland a good bit since it dropped and as to be expected it grew on me

"Stepping On a Rake" is ❤ tho

also I guess in my attempt to not sugarcoat it I was admittedly being dramatically hyperbolic in my self-description earlier lol probably a bit overkill... was just like "money, duh! I'm poor!" always comes down to the money money is love money is life

y'know... I haven't watched much of his stuff for years but that was a very nice Fairyland Codex review by the melon not much I could disagree with I'd say he did it justice

hmm Fairyland is a bit subdued innit, gonna try some more when the time comes tho. It feels a bit too restrained at times

feeling a stronk 3 / light 3.5, for now

Welp really glad I turned up to see them live despite being in the middle of an insanely depressive episode. Tyres made me cry, Two Afternoons essentially turned into like a ten minute jam session and got me listening to the new record on the way home… I fucking love it. Wish I would’ve popped by the merch stand and bought something, gonna have to order the new record.

These guys are absolute fucking troopers too, their van’s AC broke down and that Missouri heat with the humidity was clearly miserable for them, they admitted as much. Favorite active band and it made me very happy to see such a good turn out in our shitty little damn-near-sceneless city. They might’ve sold out the joint. Really hope they come thru again and play more of the new tunes.

Fairyland Codex is an AOTY contender in an already very strong year. I’m going to need a whole lot more time with it but at worst it’s the best thing they’ve done since Meatspace

Someone please review it, I don’t want to have to. I will not be able to do it justice.

I haven't reviewed anything in years but I hope someone else does it. It's incredibly good

very tempted to have a go at it myself but very doubtful it will come to fruition... would be a significant time investment for me I'm sure and not sure I'ma be making the time to devote the required focus
