finally check'd this and...very unsure what i think about it. a lot of it kinda drifted in one ear and out the other. not very many memorable moments that really caught me

I've been trying pretty hard with this and...I just don't get it? I listened to the entire discog over the last week and their debut was easily their best for me. They have a lot of good individual songs across their discography and that holds true here ('Chapters' especially rules), but the vocals don't do it for me (they sound passionless, as if just going through the motions) and the atmosphere, while pretty, gets old when the album is this bloated. There's always a chance this could grow, but this is a lite 3 for me after two full listens and experiencing their previous works for added context. I'm glad so many people are enjoying this, but I'm nowhere near being able reconcile the AOTY-level hype with the album I just heard. Sorry I guess?

it's refreshing to hear someone who solely uses their voice to accentuate the songs, rather than trying to make it stand out on its own terms. not that there's anything wrong with that but it gets stale
