"Yeah same here. I gave Volition another listen last night. It's a fast and furious PTH album and frankly I don't understand people putting it so low in their rankings. I guess the production sounds much cleaner than it did before? The lyrics are a bit dumb?"



For me it's just 1-2 songs too long for an album that has a similar tone and feel across all songs. Plus Underbite kind of sucks.

Protest are remarkably consistent.



I think for me it's probably Fortress>Kezia>Volition=Palimpsest>>Scurrilous>Pacific Myth



That being said, the highs of Scurrilous and Pacific Myth make them worthwhile. These guys are deceptively one of my favorite bands and are endlessly listenable. I think Palimpsest certainly has the ability to overtake Volition, but both of them are so much fun.

I don't hate Scurrilous (I think I have it at like a 4 or 4.5), I just don't like it quite as much as the others.

Scurrilous has some great tracks. Cest la Vie, Hair Trigger, Dunsel, and Termites are all top tier PTH. It just misses the mark more than the other 4 full lengths. To me, it's more of a testament to the other releases than a knock on Scurrilous.

Scurrilous' middle section is where it loses me, but tracks like Sex Tape and Tandem are among the best in their discography. Very worthwhile as a whole, but just not quite on the same level as their other stuff. Pacific Myth is something that I have had trouble getting into, but Caravan is a fantastic track

scurrilous is annoying in that I'll defend the bookends, Dunsel and Termites pretty firmly, but would low key rather the rest didn't exist

The run from Moonlight to Termites has some really fun sections, but overall not a lot stands out and Reign of Unending Terror and Tapestry are two of the worst songs they've written. Everything not in that section though is as great as ever imo. I would still probably give Scurrilous like a 3.8 or 4 though because I stan Protest that hard lol

^ Fortress, This and Scurrilous I have a feeling will become interchangeable tops for me. Never cared for Kezia or Volition (still 3.5s), but the other 3 are 4 - 4.5 range.

It's not that I hate Scurrilous, I just think the other albums are just stronger overall. Hair-Trigger is a banger though, and big fan of Termites.

Scurrilous just kinda loses me a bit after Moonlight. I like Dunsel, but Tapestry and Reign don't do much for me. Then it picks back up again with Termites, but I've usually checked out before then.
