u guys r hc

But really... the music on here is excellent. I just can't get past the cardboard and shark piss. It rips out too much of the nuance that these songs are calling for.

i viscerally hate any kind of overcompressed audio and i still got past it

Offensively mediocre music.

i have to wonder what criteria most sputters use to evaluate music

In Doof's case, it's probably experience.

I have to wonder what criteria most sputters use to enjoy music...
I put Tourniquet videoclip on and it was practically unlistenable...and I think I like that song (?) I tried every outputs available, except CD or vynil.
In fact I m really frustrated with sputs this year. Sorry for the outburst.

Whoa, get a load of all these plebs here. Album is a banger, despite its production. Honestly not one dud, even with 17 songs, a great listen throughout.

Still hyped to hear this, but I'm so bothered about the production... Why can't they just use their ears once?
|
| |
it was a choice by the band itself so i have a feeling that it was some slightly pretentious idea that only the real cool cats would listen past how it sounds.
or otherwise john just really thinks brickwalling suits the music for some reason.
|
| |
I think they just really know nothing about production, I can't imagine someone thinking this legit sounds good.
|
| |
nah they definitely know what's going on lol
pretty unfortunate though, i agree

Dave Fridmann is responsible for some of the best production on albums I've heard...
Deserter's Songs?
It's a Wonderful Life?
Brilliant work, excellent and perfectly judged sound.
The combo was just a weird fit here :/
