Also, the problem with NGE in comparison to EoE is that watching all the show again and again is less rewarding because the series gets more complex with time (first half is fairly "simple"), EoE, being at the end of the series, is as complex as the end of the show from the start.

The Tatami Galaxy is on my watch-list that could probably do with being cut in half. I tried watching something that was acclaimed on mal a year ago and I dropped it in 3 episodes. Cant remember what it was.
Last show I watched fully was Made in Abyss. That was decent despite the obnoxious child sexualisation that Japan loves to do.
I also don't really have time/interest for films rn, so anime just seems like a waste of time.
I tend to prefer single films over shows in general. Even though TV series have much more potential for good storytelling.
