Tbh I didn't delve into that stuff until my mid-20s. I genuinely feel sorry for you if you really dug into that stuff at such a young age. That's not right man. That's fucking horrible.

I appreciate your condolences, but that stuff was quite interesting so, eh, it was very cool. Only problem is that as a kid I only knew about the basic stuff, like I didn't know about the controversies around those events (revisionism, unreliable sources, you know, that stuff), just that "oh yeah pretty bad shit happened mate, pretty bad shit". But it was still very interesting.

I assumed you were talking about the well-documented horrific things the Japanese did to the Chinese towards the end of WW2. But good to know you're an utter psychopath Alex, noice.

I almost threw up watching episode 3 of Mindhunter where the CIA guys interviewed Ed Kemper. I felt like I was in the twilight zone after that and began questioning my own morality and sanity. Can't imagine what would it be like if I'm the one who sat there face to face with him.

Oh yeah, the Japanese stuff (the rape and the unit) seem to be fairly well documented even if there's some controversies about it. I think the most interesting one is the Caligula stuff, like a lot of it comes from few and not very reliable sources (makes sense considering the time when he was alive, I guess), but for some reason there's a bunch of horrible stories about him that I'm sure are 100% made up, like that story about how he forced one of his soldiers to rape a 12 year old girl in front of her parents or how he would make people have dinners with the bodies of their dead loved ones, like, why even make up those stories in the first place? Why have I read those stories in "serious" history books and sites on the internet? Makes no sense if you ask me.

Anyway, you know who were (apparently) not very nice people but have a very interesting history as well? The Borgia. Damn, the stories I read about them as a kid were some of my "favorite", you could say.

Eh, serial killers aren't very interesting tbh. I thought they were going to be, but nah, most of the are boring.

I made it like 30 minutes into Men Behind The Sun before I had to stop. The first kill was so horrific and inhumane I could not physically go on. Such utter mindless cruelty is hard to stomach, and that's merely a fraction of the shit that literally went on in the late 40s by the Japanese against the Chinese. I regret looking into all that stuff.

Oh so I'm pretty much sane then. Good to know, thanks Alex.

Elizabeth Bathory is kind of interesting tho.
Never watched Man Behind the Sun, it just looks like a boring exploitation film with a lot of gore; I like my gore to be fun, not just torture porn.

men behind the sun was pretty fucked up but some of the special effects havent aged well, others a little too well. thankfully that cat scene turned out to be fake

Men Behind The Sun is based on all the documentation we have on what actually happened in Unit 731. Knowing this stuff happened to real people makes it infinitely harder to stomach. Shit was trauma-inducing. A realistic testament to pure historic human evil.

Bah, I can just read that. In fact, I already read that. Didn't the director also made a film about Nanking? Mmmmmmmmmmmm... The Chinese... Interesting...

i saw it dubbed in my early teens annd yeah, it's a harder sit than salo. can't say i've seen another movie with a actual 12 year old's corpse being dissected. most of the stuff i've read about 731 was bits off the internet but the rape of nanking by iris chang is a crazy read. edit : the godfrey ho mbts sequels are definitely cashgrab exploitation, but tamer, haven't seend the 4th one by the og director but i heard its fucked

The film is just a watered-down version of those ramblings though. Both are lame, but the film is even more lame.

yeaaaah, i bring it up just cause back in the imdb-forum days mbts/salo would be in like the 10 most banned/censored films alongside all the cannibal stuff. it was also super out of print in the 2000s, one of the most collectible dvds for its time [it got recalled or someshit]. imo it just seemed like an excuse for the director to perv himself out.
