My very first listen of this left me impressed but on subsequent listens I fluctuate a lot in my opinion. Can't make up my mind on this.

I think I miss the energy of previous albums, even though I like the more groove driven approach.

Imo, stylistically, it's like they looked at their first three albums and asked themselves what they did best on those, then responded with Eve.

Trying to put into words why this album is so important to me is really hard.. like, I'm so happy it exists. I want to break it down into 3 things that make me super impressed.

3. The production - somehow it manages to have super warm/clean tones without sounding over produced. It's got this warm quality to the vocals and guitars and bass that I really really love.

2. The Lyrics- HOLY EFF... this album is so powerful. They are really highlighting a lot of issues with the church right now and they aren't afraid to put out a message that is sure to turn off some of their long time fans.

3. Toby and Devin - the vocal duo on this record are absolutely amazing. The harmony and the range are breath taking. It felt like all the parts were really thought out and worked on in a way that they havn't done in years. Love having the two of them together full time again.

Okay, that wasn't great but bottom line is I love this album and it's my AOTY

As I said before, only ever heard Shallow Seas, but I'm liking what I'm hearing on this.

get yourself to The Question immediately. unpopular opinion on Sput but it's better than In Shallow Seas (though just barely. Question is a hard 5/5 for me, In Shallow Seas is like 4.8)

Man, some of the vocalists lines remind me of old Weezer. I know that's dumb because the two bands are nothing alike, but I hear Rivers in parts of this.

I don't know if I would pay to hear a Weezer cover of Name Your God or if I would pay them to never release it
