kinda think that Winter Solstice and Tortoises aren't that good but the rest is either slaps hard or is starting to click. still prefer the EP by multiple magnitudes at this juncture

I actually slightly prefer the EP's Winter Solstice but I think it's mostly familiarity bias
The LP >>> EP though, which was tough to do because the EP is great

Admittedly, I never liked the bells that much in the EP version and I think the LP version of Winter Solstice is a little more ambitious. I love that breakdown at the end. I'm definitely an advocate for the LP version. With that said, it's definitely the weakest track on the LP. It's still pure quality though and I think a needed breather before you get into the emotional heart of the album.

I think Winter Solstice is a nice catchy song in the middle of a dang hurricane that is the rest of the album

Yeah the fact that Winter Solstice represents the worst that this has to offer says something considering that's still a solid 4/5 track

It's fine but when the chorus kicks in it reminds me of one of those yt vids that convert a minor song into major lmao it sounds so weird. prefer the minimalism in the EP version and that lyrical version is better too

The only thing I'll say is that Kristy is better than a handful of the middle tracks here
Otherwise there's little on the EP that can compare for me personally
I'm really digging the way Aaron loses himself in some of the more intense moments here

None of you appreciate Cities of the Plain enough. It's up there with Michael, Row your Boat... and Julia for me.

Cities is a little too sleepy for me, I'd probably say it's my least favorite from the EP

"Cities is a little too sleepy for me, I'd probably say it's my least favorite from the EP"
I find the second verse of Cities to be as intense/affecting as anything on the LP, and the ambient opening is a stroke of pure inspiration. I think it's among the very best songs the band has ever written.
So, obviously, I find your opinion very puzzling, and I don't know how we're going get past this, personally :P
