“Voice of Trespass” is the clear standout here. It’s BtBaM doing their best big band impression, horns and all, through a heavy metal filter, and it works wonderfully. It features jazz staples such as a swing beat, a walking bass line, and a brief solo-jam session of every member trading fours with Tommy scatting in between like a drunken stage performer – it’s a blast.
yeah man

Hearing this for the first time, holy shit what is this.

Proverbial Bellow wrecks, but I'm gonna need like 20 more listens to fully appreciate Voice of Trespass!

This is an interesting tracklisting that I think works
1. Condemned to the Gallows
2. House Organ (these 2 tracks introduce protagonist)
3. Glide
4. Voice of Trespass (these 2 tracks introduce Voice of Trespass)
5. Yellow Eyes
6. Millions
7. Gold Distance
8. Blot
9. The Proverbial Bellow
10. The Grid (these 2 tracks should be played back to back for the finale imo, VoT should be a song earlier in the album, to me it is completely jarring to have VoT in between these 2 penultimate tracks)

I should read into the story, did you already do that? It would be interesting imo if the concept works or not

I have indeed, so the reason this tracklisting would theoretically work is because Condemned is night 1, House Organ is night 2, and Glide is technically night 3 within the story, so the protagonists first confrontation with Voice of Trespass would take place on the song VoT (which would then also take place on night 3), Yellow Eyes takes place on night 4, Millions is actually a precursor of sorts that is [before] any of the events in the album, Gold Distance and Blot take place on night 5, (I'm actually not sure if there is a night 6 but it would make sense here), The Proverbial Bellow and The Grid conclude the story on night 6 with a neat little bow

Nice, maybe I'll check your sequencing

I've still not decided on what my exact interpretation is, that's why I edited so many times lmao, also the ending of VoT does have the melody of The Grid at the end but it still works earlier on in the album acting as a precursor, much like the precursor to The Grid's chorus at 3:20 of House Organ

Sooo, I'm going to see Chon in November and these guys are playing with them. Where would I start?
I've tried these guys a few times and could never get into them. Couldn't tell you what album or songs I listened to though...

Start with Colors. Then listen to Coma Ecliptic (don't believe the hate, it's a great album) and The Great Misdirect. Alaska is pretty decent, but anything before that is risky. Again, start with Colors.

On it, thanks dude. Hopefully this goes better than my previous attempts.

Nope. Bummer, apparently this just isn't my thing.

ha it's only been like 25 minutes!

check Coma dude, Colors is an onslaught of technicality that I completely understand you r distaste for, you will probably be a lot more on board for Coma, but if you don't it's all good, at-least you tried

I tried a couple songs from both albums and couldn't really get into any of it. Ohhhhh welll. It happens.

Ha! Yeah, this is kind of a take it or leave it kind of band. I actually think Automata II is a good place to start with them since it's got both the heavy stuff and the wacky stuff while also not being intimidatingly long.
