new one is a cruel lesson in why siblings, as close as they are to you and as much as you love them, shouldn't necessarily be appointed literary executors. i have no doubt it was done with taste and love in mind, but the result is a deeply upsetting compendium assembled by someone who saw the trees but didn't - and because of SOPHIE's iconoclasty and singular vision, never could - make out the shape of the forest. i don't have it in me to finish it and perhaps never will
