"i have a hard time believing the sput community would find this to be worse than tlop as the ratings suggest without people having come into this album with bias especially considering his recent support of trump etc
i find the inability to separate art from artist pathetic honestly but to each their own"
What? Many of the ppl who dislike this have just given high ratings to Daytona which has Kanyes fingerprints over it so much, it could easily be considered a collaborative release. (For me personally, Kanye's production is pretty much the best thing about that release)

The most beautiful thoughts are always besides the darkest
Today I seriously thought about killing you
I contemplated, premeditated murder
And I think about killing myself, and I love myself way more than I love you, so...
Today I thought about killing you, premeditated murder
You'd only care enough to kill somebody you love
The most beautiful thoughts are always inside the darkest
Just say it out loud to see how it feels
People say "don't say this, don't say that"
Just say it out loud, just to see how it feels
Weigh all the options, nothing's off the table
Today I thought about killing you, premeditated murder
I think about killing myself, and I, I love myself way more than I love you
The most beautiful thoughts are always besides the darkest
I think this is the part where I'm supposed to say something good to compensate it so it doesn't come off bad
But sometimes I think really bad things
Really, really, really bad things
And I love myself way more than I love you
See, if I was trying to relate it to more people
I'd probably say I'm struggling with loving myself because that seems like a common theme
But that's not the case here
I love myself way more than I love you
And I think about killing myself
So, best believe, I thought about killing you today
Premeditated murder
If this doesn't read like angsty 7th grade poetry to you, I seriously dunno what would.

We can only hope it's a Kanye 'in joke' which would make it a lame joke rather than just flat out lame.
Either way it's lame. Just all about deciding whether the joke is on us or on Kanye.
Pretty much the dilemma with this 20 minute album taken as a whole too

it felt more in the style of slam poetry... not an actual hip hop track really

Kanye continues his trend of going into a manic faze and writing, producing, and recording an album very quickly, while throwing in everything he thought was cool or inspiring during that process into the mix. That's commendable, and IMO, the best way to go about the creative process, the best way to go about starting a great artistic project from scratch. The problem is, after that initial faze, you are meant to go into studio with someone who is not your indisputable "Yes man", spend a couple of months there, honing down the material, polishing it up, abandoning things that may have seemed "genius" when you were writing but obviously fall flat, and coming out with a well thought out, carefully crafted album, with great mix and mastering.
Instead, for a third album in a row, Kanye releases what's essentially a rough demo as the actual album, instead of taking his time to make it great.

Can someone explain to me how the trending albums list works on the main page? This received over 200 ratings, 4 reviews, and a shitload of comments in just the first day yet it’s not even on the top 10 trending albums. This is clearly getting more attention than anything else right now

Things below a certain rating don't register.
At least that's how it seems to work.

there's a lot of dislike for the spoken bit at the beginning and I agree it's a little hamfisted. that said, with context it resonated pretty powerfully with me on my first listen and is still hitting me on my 9/10th listen this morning

Yeah I agree. Maybe it could be shorter though. Nigh on Nobody will agree but I think it’s sort of badass that every time you want to listen to this album the first thing you have to hear is an unvarnished expression of kanye’s violent neuroses

"i find the inability to separate art from artist pathetic honestly but to each their own"
why do people act like this is the most noble goal. we keep company with people we like, it's not surprising that we'd want the artist coming through our speakers to be someone we'd enjoy being around. obviously not a strict rule but the impulse makes sense

problem is that you stop at art. Why eat food made by people that kill the enviroment, or buy clothes made by companies that enslave whole populations.
Oh, but god forbid you fuck with an R. Kelly track.
