the outro of hop along reminds me of Faunts a bit and i absolutely love it

Relistened to their previous album, the production on this is phenomenal in comparison. The crisp mixing makes everything pop and makes me appreciate the musicianship a whole lot more than I did before. All the busy guitarwork could sometimes get muddled on Paintes Shut.

fox in motion was playing in the background of a leffen fox dittos melee combo video and damn i held off on this album for way too long

let me think on this for a sec

ok so: some recent aotys (hotelier, froot, wheel, endgame, mothership) were true non-stoppers
some others (gold cobra, science fiction, clockwork angels, diamond eyes) edged out the win by just being the best shit that came out that year
hmm

stfu lucid, people can call AOTY to whatever tf they want
this is AOTY

I think it's a pretty personal thing. I considered this my AOTY for a while, but because I haven't played this nearly as much as of recently, some other records have taken over.
also hop along are supporting the decemberists here and I really don't like them but very much do want to see hop along. rip

'also hop along are supporting the decemberists here'
should be the other way round smh

Lucid, it’s more a product of my listening habits; I don’t tend to go back to albums a whole ton after my initial bout of listening. This had a much longer stint in my rotation than most albums, definitely as long as anything else this year.

| |
The main question I tend to ask is “would I name this an album of the decade?” That’s what distinguishes a “true” AOTY from simply the album I have the most favorable opinion on.

Idk if I can go that far with every AOTY. Not every year has a truly incredible album. Some have several. Ultimately I don’t think a given album of the year need be any more than just what it says on the tin
