"> Petitioning The Empty Sky>When Forever Comes Crashing>Jane Doe>You Fail Me>All We Love We Leave Behind>Axe To Fall>No Heroes>The Dusk In Us>Halo In A Haystack
Literally the worst ranking ever"
Not nearly as bad as your Converge songs ranking. Go back to ranking Radiohead or whatever

Jane Doe = You Fail Me redux (depends on the day) > Axe to Fall > All We Love > Dusk > No Heroes > WFCC > PTES >>>> Halo
not even a slight on WFCC or PTES, they're still both solid 8/10s for me

This album is life changing tbh. I'm amazed by heavy bands with discogs this good.

I worry about bands with good discogs, will it get bad?

Well Dusk was the lowest in quality they've dipped in like 20 years. But it was still great but slightly disappointing.

putting petitioning and whenever at the top 2 is very strange yeah. they didn't really carve out their niche with those two, they sound like a lot of their contemporaries and are really unfocused. yfm is prob their best (the original mix) and axe and awlwlb are prob their most consistent and fun. that would be my top 3
|
| |
i think the only converge record (besides their debut) i think is flatout dogshit is no heroes (barring a couple great tracks)

Curious as to what you find wrong enough with this mix to rate it lower, Gyro. Also would Jane be 4th?
And No Heroes is as great as Axe to Fall for me.

this mix butchers the best song (you fail me), and i remember 1 or 2 other moments being a bit weaker, otherwise it mostly improves upon the original but i feel like that thick, sludgy atmosphere is absent sometimes which kind of blows
Jane is my 4th yeah. And then dusk

@gyromania agreed about the mix
the atmosphere on the original is as black as the cover and it rules despite its imperfections

having a tough time deciding between this and the original for the better album. this undoubtedly improves the mix for the majority of tracks, but the original has a lot of charm to its rawness and bleak atmosphere, i.e. the harrowing anguish of the t/t being more effective in the original
whichever i pick is the one im gonna 5. this has been one of my favorite albums of the last year, one of the few albums that's really struck an emotional chord with me

imo the original is just muddy. When it first came out I thought it was their second worst just because of the production alone.

yeah, I feel the same. the redux adresses many of the imperfections and roughness of the original, but loses some of the charm and emotional richness in the process. I'll take emotion over perfection any day so the original wins out for me

One of the rare occasions when a remaster was warranted

better than Jane Doe because this is Converge at their musical best and not just making a ridiculous artistic statement
my point is: you can dance to this but you can only vibe to Jane Doe

always thought of WFCC as merely Slayerized hardcore

I arived with it already made. Anyone who rathers the original is prob being nostalgic and therefore biased xD
