Gonna give it a few more spins in the next couple of weeks and it will probably end up being a 3.5

This is great shower music. Makes me feel like I'm standing underneath a waterfall.

Barely any song i would come back to, not getting the mass appeal for this band but that's ok

Any particularly good place to start with these guys?

Start with their debut, for one they only have 3 albums so it's easy to go chronologically and on top of that each album builds on the sound of the previous so it makes sense to hear them in order.

surprised to see such a high average since there seem to be many detractors

There are far more raters than commenters, on sites like this, Youtube, and others generally. And yea this group's evolution is impressive to experience, starting from Sun Giant until this, and all of it fantastic.

It's really interesting to hear their debut self-titled demo EP too

Sun Giant was actually written and recorded after their first album even though it was released first

Interesting. I always sort of thought of them as together, since HB and this are more epic, masterful albums overall.

They definitely feel like companion pieces, Sun Giant certainly came from the same musical mindset as the self titled despite being written a bit later. I actually prefer it slightly to the full album.

Having "Mykonos" on it helps a lot as that's one of their best songs.

So this is actually good. Always thought the band was waaaaaaaay to vanilla, but this is pretty adventerous and much more interesting.

Most unique and challenging thing they've put out yet. Absolutely head-over-heels for this. AOTY so far.
