Who cares if one more light goes out?
Well I do.

This is still an incredibly misguided album in terms of direction, but it does have certain strengths to it.

It also takes on a much stronger weight following this, although Chester never actually contributed to the lyrics.

i notice he only has songwriting credits on Heavy and Halfway Right, surely he had a bigger role in the writing of this album, no?

even most pop musicians have their names listed down for lyrics, even if 2-4 other names follow it.

I think his death is going to cause people (including me) to go back to this and reconnect with the album in a new light knowing the kind of thoughts he was having as they recorded it. It might be enough to actually cause the general opinion to change, who knows though.

I'm definitely going to come back to this and reappraise it in light of the change in circumstances. Doubt it'll change my rating, but it will certainly change how I interpret the lyricism

on one hand, i feel like shit for lashing out against this album earlier because listening to it now, it all sounds really optimistic and bright then everyone proceeded to tear it apart.

on the other, it really isn't that good. it has good tracks, but the majority of it is just the kind of misguided effort you'd expect from a nearly 20 year old band bringing in other songwriters.

Yeah I'd say 2.5 is probably a perfect score for this actually. The best tracks make it sound like someone made a playlist of Linkin Park ballads taken from an alternate universe collection of traditional Linkin Park albums.

Specially since he performed it right after Chris Cornell's death

[2]. That pains me to think about. Killed himself on Chris' birthday too

t/t was a genuinely great song before today and now I'd reckon it's top-tier by them tbh
