@DrGonzo1937 I totally get where you're coming from with the soulless angle, it does lack the personality and frantic energy of their other work but honestly I still enjoy it a great deal. It does have more in common with Antemasque than ATDI but that doesn't bother me.

I got to listen to this a couple times yesterday and I like it a lot. Hard for me to rate it for some reason, but it's at least the 3.5 I was hoping we'd at least get.

I think the singing is the main reason compare this to Antemasque, there's plenty here that sounds like At the Drive-In musically. And tracks like Governed by Cantagions and Hostage Stamps showcase some of the old vocal style as well.

Cedric just can't scream like he used to anymore and that's something we'll have to get used to with ATDI. The vocals are in line with what I expected them to be after hearing the singles so I wasn't shocked or disappointed.

I haven't heard an album that does... well, this... since RoC. This is inferior by every metric but it's still a wicked record and I hope it's not a one-off thing. My only complaint about the album is it's not dynamic enough; it does only one thing but does it very well imo.
