"Snide m8 there's having an opinion and then there's using that opinion to deliberately try and start shit. pls stop."

I mean that's what we've learned to expect from him, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that he shits on albums most consider classics just to get attention, we already know he's an attention whore who puts out uncooked project after uncooked project just so people will pay attention to him. No offence tho snide

I'm not saying I don't enjoy Brand New. Deja Entendu is a 3.5, while Daisy and Favorite Weapon are both 3s.

"The point I'm trying to make is that the huge leaps in quality that Brand New made from their debut to Deja Entendu isn't a crazy comparison to make."

In terms of average scores, yeh. In terms of actual quality, no. This album is only getting a more positive reception thus far because this is average pop-metalcore, rather than godawful pop-metalcore. It's gone from complete shit, to shit with some shiny bits in it. My rating is only 3.5 because I had fun with it, if I were to rate this purely on a quality basis, it'd be closer to a 2.5

I wouldn't even remotely call this average pop-metalcore, or even metalcore at all.

This is Alt Rock / Post-Hardcore

'This is better than Brand New.

Then again, Brand New's only album above a 3 is Deja Entendu so...'

I want to agree but I still hear metalcore in this, but you're probably right

I wouldn't call it pop rock, it's a little too heavy for that. Hence the alt rock tag, I can see how it could be considered that though.

I'm actually curious, seems like a lot of shit metalcore bands are actually becoming better these days, e.g Asking Alexandria.

This album actually isn't ass wow. Like some songs actually rock pretty hard even if the lyrics are kind of butt.

"Right Now drops this from a 3.5 to a 3 for me"

Right Now is a bonus track so...

Not sure why that would be relevant enough to drop the score for you.

I've always viewed bonus tracks, deluxe editions, and such as their own separate entity. I keep that in account when I rate releases.
