... i kinda like st anger for some reason... its a good album.

Metallica first came out with some descent shit but this is bad. They keep getting worse everytime i listen to them. This is just sad.

Poor st. Anger , signled out as the worste album of all time. I dont think is as bad as everyone thinks. They put alot of time in the album. They are older and all under differnt circumstances. Well any way i give it a 2.5 yeah its my least favorite album, but there are songs i like on the album, Im sure if they make another album in the future they will do a much better job because so many complained so much.



Good Tracks: Frantic, St. Anger, Some kind of monster

I liked St. Anger a bit. The title-track gets me amped as feck, Sweet Amber has some cool riffs, and Unnamed Feeling and All Within My Hands are pretty epic-sounding at times. I liked Invisible Kid's beat, but the lyrics killed it real dead. And besides, they're fast and heavy again, on the right track if you ask me... and you KNOW Hammett will be soloing his ass off next album anyways. Horrible production, laughably bad lyrics (Purify, what in the fuck were they thinking???) and horrible singing and repetitive riffage at times, but better than a lot of Metallica's imitators...

There are a few songs that could've been good (Title track, The Unnamed Feeling, for instance), and that pulls the album up somewhat, but there are so many negatives about this album that it ends up a very bad album.

i would have to agree with CCornell. the u have to go deeper into the album to actually get what they are trying to bring to the table. yes it is raw and production quality is poor, but that doesnt take away from the message MetallicA is trying to get across. MetallicA has always been about sending a message to the world. it lacks and desires solos, but MetallicA has changed. if u havent noticed, Kirk Hammett is not the full metal head he used to be. he has expanded his horizons to what i like to call a bluesy-jazz style. i mean he took lesson from blues guitarist (so ive heard). but he still has his metal roots. ill bet MetallicA comes out with a new album and rocks everyones socks off with Hammett solos. it would be nice to got back to the old chug of MetallicA metal, but those days are long gone. and comparing st. anger to albums like kill 'em all and puppets is a little extreme. those two albums were PHENOMINAL. it unlikely for MetallicA to reach those heights again (although i wouldnt mind seeing it happen). so after all that is said, i give st. anger a 3.5/5, reasoning: kill em all, puppets, and black album were definately 5s, justice and ride the lightning were 4.5s, reload i'd consider a 3.5, right there with st. anger, and load was in my mind a 3 at best. MetallicA is just on a rebound.
Oh and good review on the album. you hit every nail on the head.

Well they better. This album blows. The songs are too long and boring and production sucks.

I dont care its Metallica there still better than any other band out there, u really cant compare Metallica with any other bands because there not even close to the same. Metallica is the god of metal and myabe they have calmed down abit but thats because of family reasons. The more i listened to this album the more i liked it and appreciated the music in it. Metallica is and forever will be the best. LONG LIVE THE GODS!
