Took me a little bit but I’ve grown to really love Jawbreaker. I think it’s one of their greatest achievements from a purely conceptual standpoint. The musique-concrète/Autechre-with-808s type instrumental meshes really well with the fashion stunts and critiques in the verses, like it’s trying to have that same pseudo high-culture feel of street wear itself. Thought Ritchie’s monologue/rant was sorta preachy and out of place at first but it I think it fits quite nicely actually as every following verse (sort of) builds upon it from a different perspective. Rico Nasty was definitely the highlight of the track, and I like the hook a lot too. Hoping Ritchie and especially Groggs feel more “present” on the rest of the album though.
