That's AOTY 2019 sorted...can I add it to 2018 please, it needs a boost?

Song title “The December-ish You” - that’s a Lambchop title if I ever saw one

My verdict: Flotus 2 incoming, think they're happy to luxuriate in the same style for another release
A few new sounds in the mix, it's no 'Hustle' but it has a certain something...like an 'Is a Woman' track filtered through the Flotus sound
The electronics feels even more subtle. In fact subtle is the word full stop.

It’s lovely, definitely some subtle differences from this sound (pedal steel is back!) but it could just as easily have been an outtake from this. No complaints though, it’s a stunner nonetheless, the boys don’t disappoint.
Now to leave the tune on the shelf till March.
If only they could have pumped it out a few months faster though, I have a feeling it would’ve been the record 2018 needed. Indeed, AOTY 2019 will be an easy choice XD

Kurt describing the new song:
"Picture yourself on a boat on a river, with tangerine trees and marmalade skies… This is not that."
Haha!

Short tracklist (8 tracks) has me hoping for another epic or two.

2. Crosswords, or What This Says About You (6:47)

I'm trying to figure out what the 14 on the covers of the album and the single is in reference to. It's their 12th album (13th if you count the double album as two) so it's not in reference to that, unless I'm missing something.

New Lambchop, new Cass McCombs, new Jessica Pratt (check the first track lifted from it, 'This Time Around'), new Deerhunter, new Ry X, new Sharon Van Etten (put that one in for you!) and uh, new Swervedriver?
Already better than 2018?
Looks promising anyway

Apparently 'like a tall building' Lambchop doesn't stop at 'floor 13'
They skipped it the superstitious jokers

I have a feeling 2019 won't produce anything extraordinary. might as well drop our decade lists now

I remember there being some buzz for Jessica Pratt in like 2015, never got around to her though. New Van Etten is shaping up to be a disappointment though, she's gone the synth/art pop direction based on the singles and I'm not terribly feeling it. Deerhunter and Cass are exciting though, as is Twilight Sad. Lambchop's own William Tyler has an album out in January too!

Didn't like the first Cass McCombs song from the new album - think Lucid's right. 2019? Forgettaboutit

Doof I gotta say the summary of this review still stands as one of your best lol
Think you'll ever get back to reviewing? Surely some albums from your 90s deep dive deserve a thread of their own.

Lucid has a point though, it probably won't be an above average year for the decade at the very least, unlikely that more than 10 2019 albums will make my top 100 for the decade. May as well start working on that decade list sooner rather than later...
