his other work is unbelievably boring and dull...
This is stupid fun, at least.

Just refreshed my memory of Bon Iver with the first two albums, and they're amazing. Trying this out, and so far it's... very different, but digging it

Not much of a fan of Bon Iver's previous work, but there are a few moments of beauty here, particularly 33 GOD and #22 Strafford Apts. I've given up on his lyrics though. I'm all for lyrical ambiguity and using words to indirectly evoke meaning and atmosphere, but for me there were a number of times where I was scratching my head at the lyrics. I get that other people like the lyrical obfuscation, so does anybody have thoughts on what I might be missing?

lyrics are def not the best on here, but with the instrumentation and overall approach of the album itself, I would say the lyrics fit a lot better than lyrics on his previous albums.

I should probably bump this down to a 3.5 but there's just enough there for me to keep me hopeful this'll cement itself as a 4 in the long run so I don't know...

"But that’s what 22, A Million is…it’s ambiguity, shrouded in doubt and cut into pieces if for no other reason to prove that Vernon’s genius transcends mere words."
This review is a joke, surely?

Why would you think it's a joke

You don't see how utterly pretentious, fawning and nonsensical that comment is? I guess you answered my question.

OK let's break this sentence down.
But that’s what 22, A Million is…it’s ambiguity
not pretentious or fawning, the album is largely ambiguous
shrouded in doubt and cut into pieces
also not untrue; most of the lyrics here portray doubt and the production is intentionally scattered at times
if for no other reason to prove that Vernon’s genius transcends mere words
I take it your issue is with my using the word genius, which is the opinion of the reviewer - in this case me.
Not sure what exactly has you up in arms.
