Compared to their pinnacle album From Mars To Sirius, which is a 3.5+, Magma is a low 3 atm for me.

yeah i mean this is a pretty textbook example of an album that critics would love but many fans would be disappointed by

Its a grower for sure, and could be longer for my tastes.

But I definitely thought it was 2.0 - 2.5 on first listen. But now I cant stop listening to it. It might get bumped up to 4.0 in the future.

I love The Link dude, it's probably in my top 3. The production isn't their best but it's not bad either. And yeah Death of Me rules so do Remembrance and Indians!

Surprised by the good reviews! The singles didn't do a lot for me. That gives me hope. I really disliked their last album. Gonna try this out.

I feel like for the genre people want fast paced, manic vocals, upbeat energy and ferocity; and Gojira seem to step away from all of those cliches and create a well paced, atmospheric record that to me is a refreshing change of pace. Far too many bands just rehash ideas and I didn't need a "Ways of the Flesh" 2.0, I can just go listen to Garbage Island already.
