Album is pure gold, like everything this band has done. Serein is a hell of a single.

The thing with Katatonia is that, while their songs are great and whatnot, it takes sometime to learn to distinguish them, as they can sound to similar on first (or even fifth) listen. BUT, when you break the wall of similarity, they can be really rewarding.

This is Katatonia at their most mature yet, at least musically. Imo there really isn't a Katatonia album that can stare at this in the eyes strictly speaking of songwriting

With releases such as Blackstar and The Great Escape I'm not sure it'll be my aoty, but it's really top 3.

I see the new Dillinger above this, but yeah, could def be in my top 3 as well

I'm so surprised by this album, it's a departure from the norm -the difference in technicality is quite weird to hear live- but it's a natural one. They just "leveled up" with this line-up.

Takeover is a drug btw

The drumming on the whole album is fantastic. Very impressive for the new guy's debut with Katatonia. This album has some serious replayability.

Upon first impression this album didn't do much for me :/

Maybe another listen will prove more fruitful.

This is certainly near the top end of my top 50 albums of the year list. Takeover, Serac, The Night Subscriber, and Passer are so good.

I gotta replay this and stop listening to Night is the New Day and The Great Cold Distance for a while.
