I keep wanting to try and get into this album because Feel Good Inc. is so good but the rest is just so disappointing

i actually kinda hate the rapping on feel good inc. very mediocre imo, but it's really fun and silly, so can still get down. the song is underdeveloped imo, in that it needs one more goddamn chorus.

This is from the main summary for the band on Sputnik...Gorillaz have never done anything even remotely heavy metal.

I like to think Gorillaz was always an "alternative-meets-trip hop" sort of project. Nobody is really sure on the exact genre. Damon Albarn's flirted with baroque pop and electronic music on Plastic Beach, and correct me if I'm wrong on that; let's just say that was a pop record.

i would agree. this is a pop album with various arrangements and influences, with a noticeable amount of trip hop specifically.
