I credit this album as one of my biggest influences for getting into modern country music. It's phenomenal.

Lovely atmosphere on this thing. Seize the day and live type stuff with an undercurrent of threat and a warning of don’t take the piss.

Glad that this seems to have been a gateway into country for many people, this and MMSICM are genuine country classics and some of the best albums of the ‘10s in general.
I was supposed to see him live next month but obviously with Covid that ain’t gonna happen. Sad, though it would have been my third time seeing him so I’m not really missing much. He’s an awesome live act though.

Definitely, the first two albums are slightly more pure country than this, less soul influence and more in the true outlaw tradition, but both excellent; Metamodern Sounds is pretty much just as good as this and has "Turtles All the Way Down" and "The Promise" which (despite the latter being a cover) are pretty much Sturgill's two most essential tracks as far as I'm concerned.

@zak, metamodern is significantly better imo. more classic country type of stuff, but of course, this one has gems in it too.

Glad to see you hop on the train sowing, I know boney and I have been some of the bigger pro modern country people on here, I've been really digging Orville Peck lately myself.

JWT, if you’re not on the Honey Harper train yet you’d better hop on soon. He’s pretty far from pure country but it’s a superb album nonetheless.
