"father stretch my hands p1 & 2 is one of the worst things i've ever listened to tbh jesus christ"

I GOT BROADS IN ATLANTA though, so your argument is invalid

Also, if you've never fucked a girl with a bleached asshole, your negative opinion on this song is irrelevant, bbrrrah

yeah the fact his mixtapes were so good and his material became so bland boring and generic once he went commercial will go down as the biggest disappointment of the decade in hiphop (music)

On the topic of those weekend mixtapes tho, the "trilogy" release removes all the copyrighted samples and it sounds horrible. unless your rating it as a placeholder for all three mixtapes instead of the actual trilogy bundle.

"lost u on the last one"

IDK man, I think it's a perfect pop album. "In the Night" is my jam. I think Kiss Land proved that going with the same sounds as the free albums trilogy wears thin.

even still man, the context is lost with the compilation so it makes no sense to rated it higher than the actual source material

IMO

if you're familiar with the mixtapes before you've listened to it then there's no 'context' lost. they're all in order and all the original songs are on there so i don't know what you're getting at

Yeah, I have the three free albums to begin with, so I see no reason to even rate the compilation release version, if you'd already heard the originals

bbtm was just as bland as kissland, which isn't a good thing, kissland was bland understandably since it was a familiar sound that he's ridden out. when your debut pop album sounds bland it's not a good thing.

well if youre assuming you understand the context going into in and still rating it higher then you arent rating it objectively, which is fine and i get it now (i.e. IMO when rating it this shouldnt be assumed and the thing should be looked at without context)

I guess lets agree to disagree, the songs are much shorter and to the point than Kiss Land, and they don't sound bland to me. It was a nice change of pace for me, I was starting to not care about him at all, he changed my mind, made a good choice to go straight MJ-style pop music. Successfully IMO

i mean there isn't even a ton of context behind it in the first place, he doesn't have a super deep story going on. there's a seedy atmosphere and a pretty vague story going on but even then it all carries over to the comp

i really liked tell your friends, i wish he'd kinda do more of the stripped back pop instead of the synth stuff.

I don't feel like Abel has the voice for the kind of pop music he's trying to make. Or maybe he's missing something, but BBTM was such an incredibly dull listen.

agreed here. the best thing about the trilogy wasn't whatever vague story was present. It was a look into what we are led to believe is Abel's psyche. He's someone that is so far removed from society through the abuse of sex and drugs that he no longer sounds human. Add in the mix of eerie and chill production and you feel like your listening to the ramblings of some kind of demon.
