then you just don't like this band but i mean tons of people fucking loved this band before local business yet the response to this has been super underwhelming. i guess people aren't interested in this band anymore? (or maybe they think this album ain't that great but it's pretty great)

I think there was a lot of people that were caught in the hype for The Monitor, but that it faded away with subsequent releases or they were never that invested in the band to begin with idk, maybe Pitchfork and other big publications gave more exposure to The Monitor than this...

i think they definitely lost interest cuz of Local Business, it was just such a low-key and middling album that didn't capitalize on what people liked about them at all

Yeah, but then again Local Business only has about the 1/4 or so votes than what The Monitor has so about 3/4 didn't even care enough about the band to check Local Business even after bad press (assuming that the same ratio is true for people who rated the album than the ratio of people who listened to the album). I really feel like The Monitor was for most people a flavour of the month booze filled punk-indie-rock-ish album.
