Are they using a trumpet on Torture Me about 1:15 the way through the song??? Thats totally unlike the Peppers, but it gives the song a different feel.
|
| |
They are indeed using brass in some songs, and am I right in saying that it is Flea playing it?

you probably are.
how do you make them quote boxes?

the Chili Peppers have used trumpets in their songs for ages, example: Apache Rose Peacock

The only song I've heard off this CD is Dani California. It was pretty good. Weird music video, but aren't they all for RHCP?
I still don't know if I want to shellac out twenty bucks for an album that has no previews anywhere.
Ugh, twenty? I bought it for twelve dollars. It's not worth that much.
Yeah, if you are unsure so far, I'd wait for the new singles to come out (Snow, Tell Me Baby, Storm in a Teacup) so you can make your choice more easily. Dani California is a very poor representation and lead single of this album, in my opinion.
"Storm In A Teacup" is a single? Fuck yes! This Message Edited On 05.20.06

yes, most slow songs on the album are snoozefests, but songs like storm in a teacup, 21st century, hump de bump and warlocks more than make up for them, IMO =)

After all the hype and shock of a new CD, I still have to say this probably is their best work.
Tell Me Baby, 21st Century, Storm in a Teacup, Charlie, and Hump De Bump will please the funk fans.
Desecration Smile, Hard to Concentrate, Animal Bar, Stadium Arcadium and Wet Sand will please those addicted to their beautiful more modern style.
Dani California and Readymade alone are enough to bring in a flock of new fans.
It's a great disk, and will be the Chili Peppers' IV, Revolver, or Dark Side of the Moon. It stands above BSSM, imo. This Message Edited On 05.21.06

I just got this. Finally. I would like to listen to it more before rating it, though for some reason I really like "Hump De Bump".

I really only like about half the songs on here. I definitely agree that this should have been just a single disc album.

After subjecting this album to intense scrutiny, I've decided a 4.5 is appropriate. The only thing keeping it from a perfect 5 are the abundance of slow songs.

Holyed, if you saw Live at slane castle. Flea had a crazy trumpet solo and he studied jazz in high school. It turns out Hillel Slovak taught him how to play bass guitar. Also, I would do anything for Hump de bump to be their new single! This Message Edited On 05.21.06

The opening bass line of Readymade sounds very similar to Jane Addiction's Mountain Song. pretty good song though.

Hillel must have been a hell of a bass player. or flea just has a natural talent when it comes to music. and it does sound a lot like the bass in the mountain song. This Message Edited On 05.21.06

All of the songs are starting to grow on me in their own way. Now, the only real downsides in my opinion are If and We Believe. I'm currently getting hold of the B-Sides to Dani California.

I kind of like "We Believe", But "Stadium Arcadium" (the song) bores me to tears.
