this is my least favourite of his but i still love it. he is so consistent. the first three songs hold this back a little bit, the opener especially is pretty average to me

I run the folk club, you can't revoke it

It needs to be voted on by the committee

I seized it by force in the great folk coup of 2009.

I don't know it's the dreamy ambience on tracks like Sagres for sure, but I also think the melodies are more memorable and the cacophony of instruments on the closer is something I wish he would have pursued further. This was the start of something wonderful then he straight up abandoned it for his bread and butter.

Yeah I came around to the new one slightly, which is why I flagged Atari's review over mine because I didn't necessarily stand by the 2.8 anymore. It's still not amazing though. My favorite songs from it are There’s a Girl and Waiting for My Ghost.

agreed with colton, the latest wasn't all that much of. a retreat. I thought it was a clever combination of his acoustic playing and the instrumental embelishes of this album

I guess I was hoping for him to explode rather than compromise

the bookends on this are killer, but i struggle to connect with the rest of the songs like I have with all of his other work. i prefer his 'bread and butter', i suppose. to me, all this guy needs to make pure gold is one mic and an acoustic. anything else runs the risk of bloating it.

Yes indeed!

I was supposed to see him summer of 2020, the concert has been postponed until summer of 2022. Still looking forward to it, if it ever happens.
