the lyrics are pretty negligible but they're hardly a focal point

that's perfectly justifiable grounds for your score, no need to keep defending your rating

He could've gave more of a personality to each disc yeah with one more ambient-y and one more PE heavy, but I'm still glad with what I got.

SachikoM, this album totally pushed the boundaries of the genre and I think a lot (and I mean most) people would probably agree. But I hear ya, your word is cool since you've introduced me to a bunch of awesome PE.

Read his interviews about this album (especially the lyrics to "Greenpoint") and you will change your mind. The lyrics are every bit as important to the album as the music itself.

Bang on! No other PE album combines the two so gracefully.

I've read the interviews about his lyrics, and I understand how they contribute to the narrative, but for me personally it has little bearing on why I like this as much as I do

I think the tone conveyed is most important. He could be speaking in a completely different language and I wouldn't mind. I didn't mean to totally downplay the lyrics, but they are a very small factor of my enjoyment here. I think in my review I mentioned the lyrics once, but it was more for the tone he presented in conjunction with the sort of blasphemic atmosphere in those tracks.
