Haha yes, getting a bit silly. Despite Holy Grail and the s/t being drops in quality we got that fucking amazingly dumb comedy series they made during the Holy Grail era. If you don't know what I mean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erKF00ngviE

@Evo: Yep, their vocalist is gah. Should have made more but I think Versailles was necessary for him to branch out his style to his full potential.

I had not seen that! Yuki is so the pretty, molestable one. ....oh
VK vocalists are kind of a mixed bag. Sometimes they mesh well with their band, most of the time I can't turn it off fast enough.

It's so silly, especally Hizaki as a baby sitter in episode 1 xD
It's pretty much an ultimate hit and miss. You have people like Toshi, Kamijo, Sakurai, Kyo, Gackt who are incredible then you have the overwelming majority who are just boring or offensively bad (add Zin to that list).

Exist Trace started so strong if inexperienced. Then they became soooo bland. :/
I need that baby sitter!

I listened to them and though they were bland as shit so I agree. I think a personal Hizaki on call would be amazing :P

The Hizaki Makeover show.
"Vanguard" remains one of my all time fav metal songs. That level of creativity didn't last long at all, though.

Did anyone try out Kyo's side project? I never actually got round to listening to it.

If you mean Sukekiyo, you're in for some stellar performances from Kyo. As I've said before on other sites, the full-length and EP made me fall in love with his voice even more. The songs Hidden One, Aftermath (especially) and Mama are so good. Some similarities with DEG yet different and quite varied. I highly recommend if you haven't heard it.

Sukekiyo's Zephyr is imo, the best performance from Kyo I heard in a long time.

Will definitely get in it then I think. I don't really know why I haven't checked it out yet.

sukekiyo overall not for me though, only like maybe, 6 songs or so from their released material so far, alittle too VK for me i think
just Zephyr, foster mother, focus, elizabeth addict, latour, and leather fields is ok. mama is decent too.

Idk, I've found listening to those releases is oddly addictive. Not nearly as metal orientated as his main band but still experimental and interesting. And yes I'd agree that there are standout songs more than anything but overall it's still very good.
I really dig Latour, Hidden One, Aftermath, Mama, Leather Field, Foster Mother and Focus.

DEG's best album to date.

Of the latest three I've heard, I think this is the one I prefer the most too. While good sounding, the production is a bit one-dimensional though. On the other hand, there's great variation among the many songs, which only rarely dip in quality.

Yep, a long album but never gets boring.

"While good sounding, the production is a bit one-dimensional though."
What does this even mean?
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.5
That the album has a certain sound and that the tracks don't differ a lot dynamically. Perhaps even sounding a bit samey! Don't see what's so hard to get about that statement.
