Well I did check out the debut EP earlier but it felt so alien and weird. This was a much better gateway into this style/band

I might change my mind as i go deeper into it. For now (coming from extreme metal) its still kinda weird and noisy

honestly the S/T is probably the closest to this stylistically. Very heavy on the sludge sound of the bass and guitar accompanied by a drum machine giving pounding but not incredibly complex beats and incredibly ruthlessly aggressive in its emotions. very straightforward industrial sludge. If not the s/t then maybe Pure, but Pure is more melodic. But for the most part every other Godflesh release is kind of experimental in its own way

loving all the godflesh bumps lately and i know opinions on favorites throughout the discog are varied and opinions on this one are varied but idk this record has always stuck out to me the most for some reason, has remained my favorite since i got into the band but there's so much quality in that discog

Gotta appreciate how Justin incorporated 8-string guitars to this album.

I don't think I have any Godflesh album lower at 4. I think the only Godflesh one I have at 3.5 is Decline and Fall and after listening to a lot of PLaying With Fire, I might bump that one too.

I dig s/t more, not that big on the 8-string tone here. Sounds a little too loose and bare. That first EP is just hateful. Streetcleaner is the superior version of that sound yeah, but even then that EP just rips.
