Yeah, after Circlont6a spazzes the fuck out or throws a temper tantrum or whatever @ 1:53-2:00 the song builds into something glorious.

"playing random chords that don't belong in the same key =/= jazz... even if it's considered jazz it must be the less complex and most pretentious kind of jazz.."

after listening to it quite a bit, I rate it classic without much hesitation. no filler, perhaps his most consistent album and the production, sequencing, and sound quality is superb. can't think of a much better comeback, sounds like a cross between AFX 'Analord' and RDJ Album, which is fine by me!

Analord is 3 and a half hours long if you get the whole thing by the way

Negator, you might also want to check out some stuff he released under the pseudonym The Tuss as well. That stuff came out around the same time some of the songs on Syro were made as well (2007 I think). You can hear that when he ventured off to experiment with The Tuss he definitely brought quite a bit of what he discovered and applied it to Syro.
Check out The Rush Up Edge. At the very least to hear Synthacon9 and Death Fuck. Shit goes hard.

ah thank you for the recs. You know what? Ive never actualy checked out RJD's side projects. Kinda wierd for a avid fan of his music.Guess ive always felt satisfied by AFX's work. But The Tuss sounds awesome as fuck. As does Death Fuck.

The Analord series has some serious gems.
You're big on SAW 85-92 right? Polygon Window's Surfing On Sine Waves is probably for you as well as it's super chill.

"Casual listeners will immediately gravitate around '180db_', it's the most opportunistic Aphex has ever portrayed himself to be."
"180db_" is so fucking good, even if it's the most accessible song on the album. To me, it's RDJ way of telling today's electronica artists "Let me show you how it's fucking done."
Wait, are you telling me the one song I can't stand on the whole album is everyone's favorite? God, I am like, way off the grid on this one...

1) Circlont6A
2) Produk29
3) Christmas Eve
*Marchromt30A*
4) Syro
5) Minipops
6) Papat4
7) Aisatsana
8) Circlont14
9) 4bit
10) 180db
11) S950
12) Fz Pseudotimestretch
It's really only the last three that I don't thoroughly enjoy. There's something sinister about 180_db though, it's like the soundtrack to overdosing ravers being gurney'd out of a club under strobe lights or something.

Where did you get "everyone's favourite" from? I was simply implying that from a casual listening perspective '180db_' would be the immediate standout due to both its brevity and its looping hook
