Nah, they always said it was going to be another straight forward effort.

Put this album to the test and jammed it in the car, I like it a little more, but the mixing is fucked! Haven't heard a production this messed up since Karnivool's Asymmetry.

I think that Ember City and Asleep in the Deep are my favourites off of this. Awesome tracks.

Album is kinda come and go, good overall with moments that are great and moments that lose your attention. Definitely better than The Hunter, though they played it safe by writing songs that are catchy and a little weird/intriguing. The tracks that follow a verse/chorus/verse/chorus/extended psychedelic bridge/chorus structure are just plain lazy.

CTS.
And hiding behind "they're a sludgy band" doesn't bring to light the production is shite.

The issue for me is the lack of staying power this album has. There's a few reall great moments. Brilliant, yet fleeting moments, and that is simply not enough. Yes, it's fantastic to see more variety, though even using the word "variety" seems misplaced. And the closer is particularly weak, despite Scott Kelly's presence which is something I was looking forwad to due to his epic performance on Crack the Skye.
