unfortunately autechre inhabits the strange space of both being sort of an entry point to the genre as well as the conclusion.
my relationship with IDM has basically been attempting to find things that are as good as autechre and never really succeeding.

uh if we're talking like quaristice/exai lvl of excellence probably only like boc and twine really compare to ae but theres definitely a few artists out there that have put out stuff i think is just as incredible as their other material

same hard. although this actually also perfectly describes my relationship with post-hardcore and thrice's album the illusion of safety.

there are other albums i like for sure, im not saying that other IDM is fruitless, but in the end i always find myself coming back to these guys.
