Just got my copy of the Sojourner vinyl box set in the mail today, such epic packaging. About ready to go on another Molina binge through my wax collection now, not mad about that

youre the first person in my 6 years of fandom of jason to mention sojourner on here. it's such a shame how much this album overshadows everything else of theirs

Should check Sojourner but its length is intimidating lol

Especially given that most Molina albums took quite some time to grow on me (Ghost Tropic went from a 3 to a 5 to me over the span of like two years)

Apparently the 'Black Ram' part is most similar to Songs: Ohia, maybe I should start with those songs?

the closest thing to songs ohia is probably the last disc cause its just jason on acoustic guitar. i believe they were more or less solo demos. the black ram is definitely closer to songs ohia but i'd say if anything more so resembles his solo stuff. but you can take the discs one by one or divide it up in the way streaming does into 2 volumes which is how i did it back in the day

Second disk is my favourite for sure, the production and backing band really bring life to those songs. The whole thing is incredible though, like basically all his discography

The Lioness is probably the most accessible next step

Just heard the bonus tracks for the first time. The Big Game is Every Night is a crazy song, pretty much country-rock slowcore.
