I don't think anyone said this was art lol but it really isn't that acceptable for this band I agree. Sound Awake was incredible and this is not a worthy follow up.

I really like this not just because of the rhythms, but how unexpected it was, how Kenny's vocal style works surprisingly well with the new sound, how important of a role the bass plays, etc. The songs people tend to pick out as failures are mostly bogged down by the lackluster mix (The Refusal, The Last Few). I agree the interludes are garbage.

Yeah, Cote is definitely their best song. I also love Deadman and Change.
But I'll agree that Sky Machine is probably the best here. I really like Float more than most people, though-- I think it's structured incredibly well. And Alpha is great until the change halfway through, which I don't care for.
