They've always had a substantial Tool/Deftones influence. They use those really fucking well here and their approach on this album has always appealed to me. FBTB is easy listening, but I'm just not loving it like I want to :/

New album is their best since the autumn effect.

disagreed hard, it really is way too safe. It's still solid, but it's probably their weakest since before this

It's their most consistent aesthetically, if not their best from a songwriting standpoint.

it's consistent, but honestly it's missing what makes them unique in the first place.

Disagreed. The atmosphere is still there in spades. Vertigo, Survivors, Moisture Residue, Miscellanea, Luna all carry it.

Survivors and Moisture Residue I'll give you that, but the rest I feel are pretty generic.

To be honest, I don't think there really is a bad song per se, but a few of the songs blend in with the album that it ends up being rather forgettable.

Listening to this again. No idea why this doesn't have a 4 average. Wasteland, Fault Line, Waking Up, Through the Iris, Paralyizing Kings, etc.

Yea it's definitely one of the best I've heard from alt metal. Idk people get all butt hurt sometimes when a band sounds like another at many points. Tool, Deftones and APC comes to mind of course, but if they band does it well while still having character and passion then I don't see the problem honestly.

It's good for what it is, but it's not too original

kinda sounds like a midway between Chevelle circa Vena Sera and Mer De Noms-era APC to me

Those interludes give the album character, and Jesse has one hell of a voice on here. Definitely can be compared to APC or Deftones, and Tool too, but it still rules so much.

So far I'm preferring Division, tbh. This is probably more atmospheric, but Division has stronger melodies, or at least ones that hook me in a bit more
