Lol. Do you guys realize how easy it is to make sure that people aren't rating stuff ridiculous numbers? Even at the laziest, all they need to do is write a couple lines of code:

if your rating is a valid rating
then you're good to go
else
go fuck yourself

Not that I really think rating something a 0.5 is screwing with the system, see here:

http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/46804/Korn-The-Path-of-Totality/

But it's not our website. If users were able to rate something a value they shouldn't have, then the site admins should've fixed it and moved on, accepting the fact that flaws in their code are what allowed it to happen. If they thought a .1 increments system would've improved the site, then I guess they're punishing us by making THEIR website worse? Lol enjoy that mindset - I'm fine with .5 increments by the way, thanks.

i'd agree if everyone were just rating albums 0.5. but people were rating some albums absurd ratings like 1000 and 4e23534 or some shit and really fucked up the average ratings

They're more upset with reviews giving out like 1000/5 ratings and such than users giving out 0.5 ratings, I'm sure.

go tell that to mx, I'm just stating what the mods have said

Yeah I'm not saying people should've been able to rate stuff like that, but that's an issue with the way the site was coded. You don't see people on Amazon rating shit 5e10283 and amazon going "well we better punish the users by disabling shit". They'd just fix the problem on their end and move on.

Honestly simba. We've explained the whole 0.5 thing numerous times in the thread don't be lazy.

"go tell that to mx, I'm just stating what the mods have said"

I'm not really directing my post at you, more at "what the mods have said". By the way how do you tell something to mx, has anyone seen him since... 2007 or so?

He turns up on the forums occasionally and I believe he communicates regularly with the mods. I'd post
something in either the meds thread or Site Bugs and Problems if I wanted to communicate something to
him

which I never have

but still

Even if they allowed it and set the lowest possible score to .5 it would still wreak havoc on the quality of avg ratings before it would help.
