Wolfhorde: Are you talking to me? Lol.

"yeah we are never ever... is pretty awful"
bro it r00lz
"Flo Rida, David Guetta, Pitbull, Gotye, Bieber and the likes"
...?????
so the fact that the mainstream surprisingly and uncharacteristically picked a Gotye song to become the next radio hit suddenly makes him a similar artist to Flo Rida, Guetta, etc.? (And I'm not even speaking to quality, just style.)
goddamn I feel like if Somebody That I Used To Know wasn't a hit you'd prob be talking about how that song was an overlooked potential hit

"more people should listen to cat power."
is there any pudding for me?
asdfp guy - you are clearly just very closed-minded. People "here" are not really like that, you just perceive that to be the case because you are one of them. That shallow sort of dismissal of anything that isn't "manly" or is "too gay" exists pretty much everywhere. But it's shallow and meaningless and 99% of us are beyond it. You are not.

"So how supporting of women is the place you live in? Is it ok to listen to pop for men? Are women who listen to metal considered normal?"
I think its natural that alot of women just arent going to be into metal because by its nature its very masculine. Its obviously geared towards men and vastly made by men. T Swift and her ilk are geared more towards women. That doesnt mean there isnt crossover though. Alot of guys I know think metal is too heavy or angry. Metalcore is the last thing they wanna hear, but then again Im not 15.

Did I say that? No, I didn't - you interpreted that out of what I said. I simply listed some male musicians with one or multiple big hits and said that no person I've ever met was a fan of those artists. I never implied they were similar musically.
Also, what Yankee said. And that's just beside the fact that the metal scene is by it's nature rather "radical/extreme" and "narrow-minded".

Really you never met a guy who liked Gotye? What the heck.

A friend of mine dug that song for a while but it's not like she was a fan of him.

YankeeDudel: I don't think of metal as masculine. It can be pretty (if you consider being being pretty
as something femenine). And honestly, all the dark, morbid and aggresive stuff is only considered
'masculine' because we keep perpetuating that belief. I know many women who like that stuff, but they
are the "weird ones". And they aren't certainly the mayority.
Aids: By "here" I meant my school, lol.

What kind of school is that? Mosher's school of brodowns?

Oh okay, my bad. There tends to be (imo justified) negative connotations with those male pop artists you mentioned so I figured you were lumping Gotye in with those connotations.
I see your point but I don't think it's necessarily true. A lot of my friends (and me) jammed 'Whistle' (Flo Rida I think) because even though we're aware it's a fucking awful song it was still catchy and fun. But if you're meaning that you won't find a fanatic male fan of, say, David Guetta on the levels of the obsession of some (female) fans of Taylor Swift then I definitely see your distinction, even if I'm hesitant on your conclusion

Aids: By "here" I meant my school, lol.
ok well how old are you then
|
| |
Wolfhorde: Kind of, lol.
Aids: I'm 17. I sated that I'm a teen still in my first comment.
Remember, here is where people -- male, female or however they define themselves -- get their
formation, educational and cultural. And here, at least where I live, is where the idea that women
should stick to pop. And people trash pop wherever you look.
|

Im sure you know a bunch of guys who like Gotye. You just never talked about it. Unless you ask every person you hang out with or meet if they like him.

I'm not talking about enjoying a song, I'm also not talking about obsessive teen fandom. Just someone who genuinely likes an artist and thinks the output of said artist is/has been consistent, although this is probably also the case in comparison to 'tween fandom'. I was also making more of a regional distinction, I mean I have no idea what people in Azerbaijan or Kosovo listen to.
Regarding my friends I can say with certainty that they don't, once again I'm talking about consistent output - not one single song. So yeah, even my pals, buddies and whatever the fuck you wanna call them probably don't think so. (granted, "international" or "American" pop hits are never as big here)

dude andcas what are you trying to prove?
i haven't read the entire thread but people have been attacking you not because you don't listen to gay and girly shit but because your comments about taylor's music reek of sexism (as if calling her a slut is equivalent to criticizing her music, which is exactly what you've done in all the Red threads)

You "love" something like that but hate on this? Eh.
Also: burn.
|
| |
i'm totally chill and this is chan's taylor thread which means you're public enemy #1 !!
|
| |
What assumptions? Lol.
And dude, you haven't given an explanation. Why do you focus on her sex life rather than the actual music? Even though I'm new here, I've seen your comments about Taylor, and they are really sexist and sex-negative.
|
| |
So guys, how goes this completely aimless sexist argument?
|
| |
You're not sexist because you don't like it or because you think it's poorly written. You're sexist because you keep refering to the amount of partners she has had, instead of the actual music that talk about said partners.
