"and btw, Mélanie Laurent is drop-dead gorgeous. I fell in love with her after the first scene of Inglorious Basterds."
Agreed.. WHUAT ME AND AIDS AGREE ON SOMETHING WOO PARTY
|

Hahaha. Funny vid.

anyone who isn't a Francophone basically, though I'm sure they're civil around Anglophones
that are bilingual.
Sweet
behold Ray's last jump, in all it's lovely Canadian glory http://www.youtube.com/watch?

now that's a Canadian accent, still think we sound like Americans?
that video is amazing on so many levels but yeah canadian and american accents are very similar
|
| |
Actually gotta agree with Fishy, AE and CE as spoken in that video do kinda sound alike. The latter actually sounds like a more "twinkly" version of American English. Might've been his voice though Idk.
Also, damn. I find myself to be more mesmerized by that M. Laurent avatar than I probably should be.
|
| |
Yeah, that's what I meant. Also agree on the redneck part. Especially when he says stuff like "do 'er".

should be.
yeah you're starting to creep me out
all this "rebranding" myself is starting to work too well
Sometimes I can distinguish Canadian accents but even then I wouldn't be able to actually state what
the difference is from US accents. French Canadian accents are mental though
|
| |
It's weird that you can't. I thought that it was just cos I'm an outsider and I'm not used to being
around either of them.
edit: goddamn now my comment makes no sense
|
| |
"I've never heard any famous star or musician from canada that I'm aware of not sound american."
Agreed.
"yeah you're starting to creep me out"
lol, how is that even possible.
"all this "rebranding" myself is starting to work too well"
well, y'know - this universe can be very ironic. We Germans experienced that when we tried to ban the Socialists/Communists. (actually made them stronger)
|
| |
Well, it makes sense y'all sound kinda similar considering you were basically just British colonists.
|
| |
well, y'know - this universe can be very ironic.
I don't see how that's ironic
|
| |
Causality. Small effect, bigger consequences. Big effect, smaller consequences. Or however you would want to rephrase that, sometimes subtle things can influence things more than one would assume and obvious/striking things less.
|
| |
ok but was the dog avatar reeeally that bad?
|
| |
That was a dog? I don't remember it 100% but Idk maybe?
If you're really asking yourself that question read some psychology stuff about "snap judgements" - which can be triggered by all senses but especially by visuals. (pretty sure you might already be familiar with the concepts of this stuff, I wouldn't wanna wrap it out because I'd probably fill two pages)
Granted, this is mostly about people, social behavior, psychological automatisms and such but I don't see why it wouldn't apply in general.
|
| |
that was partly my thinking. when you read a comment you usually picture the user as the picture and the tone of the comment feels different depending on what that is when there's no voice. hence me changing from an in-your-face-smug ugly pug to sweet wonderful dreamy mélanie
plus she's fiiiiine
