Yes but take Anniversary off this and an important part of the overall atmosphere from this record is missing.

that track is beautiful, and i pretty much don't trust anyone who doesn't like it, to be honest

Also on my first few listens to Hexagram I thought Chino was saying 'What's Up?' 'Man' which I think also made it seem all the more bad!
Agree Anniversary is beautiful and so needed on this album

It still just doesn't do it for me as much as the others. It's still great but I listened to it twice again yesterday based off these comments and still falls short for me.

ive always thought the album run of WP, this, and SNW is one of my favorite three album runs there is.
|
| |
haven't heard this but this would have to be like 15/5 for that three album run to be considered one of my favorites

Lets not take any song away from this, and just add Lovers before Bloody Cape. I think the album would flow much better that way.

Lovers is amazing, but sounds too similar to Battle Axe. pretty sure that's why they took it off. I think this album was originally supposed to be called Lovers, but not sure.

Yes, I remember reading somewhere that Lovers was supposed to be the title track of the album.
Eh, added or not, the flow of the latter half is what kills the album for me. I don't particularly have any complaints about the songs (except Lucky You, perhaps). I always found odd how Bloody Cape (one of their best songs) is placed between two of the most experimental tracks of the album. It sounds awkward methinks, and could be easily solved by a different arrangement of songs.
Still, massively underrated record. With a different track list, it would easily be second best Deftones (IMO).

^lol honestly, I squeezed in Lovers before Bloody Cape and voilĂ , the album kind of makes more sense to me.
|

Yeah I tried for maybe 10-15 mins and gave up. This is what I ended with
1. Battle-Axe
2. Needles and Pins
3. Good Morning Beautiful
4. Hexagram
5. When Girls Telephone Boys
6. Lucky You
7. Minerva
8. Moana
9. Bloody Cape
10. Deathblow
11. Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event

I liked in particular the latter half, and how Moana sounds the best as a "towards the end of the album", rather than the closer. I'd probably leave Hexagram as the opener, and maybe move a couple of tracks but it's very good.
|
| |
Yeah I always thought of Hexagram as a kind of lackluster opener (and Moana as a weak closer), and I thought Battle-Axe would've been a smoother transition into the album, but hey, thanks for actually trying it out. Haha
I'd be curious to see what other people can come up with
