I'm hearing Unstable for the first time and actually really enjoy it. Seems like the b-sides off here are great.

Yeah the b-sides are better than some of the songs on here

Yeah, I would have preferred some of the b-sides over Innocent and Orpheum specifically. Innocent sounds to me like it would have been a good b-side anyways. Orpheum maybe not, but I don't enjoy it nearly as much as the rest of the album either.

Yeah, agreed. The verses are awfully short, and the chorus is almost monotone which sucks since it's a pretty cool song otherwise with all the shit going on.

Yeah long verses are good but depends, you can drag them out way too long and it kills any natural momentum the song had

Orpheum's one of my favorites. If it was a little longer they could've made that the closer because it has a much more epic feel than the actual closer.

That said, I think Little Tyrants is my overall favorite now.

Really? I dunno, I feel like they tried to cram too much into a relatively short song, so yeah I guess you're right. I still am not a fan of the chorus, though, and no adding of length would change that. It's still too hard for me to say what my favorite is... it may very well be Self-Starter.

See the chorus is actually why I like it so much. I love how it just explodes into a flurry of instruments.

The weird part is I agree but I still can't derive the same amount of enjoyment from it. No matter how good the rest sounds, I can't get over how bland the vocal melody is. You'd expect Stephen to soar over the instrumentals but he doesn't except for the last note (which isn't a particularly nice-sounding harmonic anyways). The falsetto is nice though

This album has been wearing off on me a bit. All the Anberlin albums have 1-2 songs that I think are incredible and I'll jam like a thousand times. There's no song here that does that for me; they're all just averagely good and enjoyable. After a bunch of listens now I'm a bit disappointed too.

4.5 down to 3.5

Yeah, I think a lot of songs here qualify as "some of their best songs ever" but it comes down to taste. The better songs are the uptempo rockers though, which might not be what people want from Anberlin.
