Macklemore's music doesn't really come from the same place (I don't mean geographically) as traditional hip-hop has (and continues to) for decades. The line between pop and hip-hop is starting to blur and there is a discussion to be had there. you can either join in, or keep banging your head against a wall with this whole "rap ===> therefore hip-hop" rhetoric.
